it's over

in the words of yogi berra, "it's not over until its over". well, it's over. the cards won! to everyone's surprise - even mine, though i foolishly told my brother-in-law in a public place that the cards would win it in five. i really didn't believe it - i was just being foolish at the time, which wasn't really foolish at all as it turns out. so, the baseball season is over. it's over. words that most don't like. we hear them too often in life. it's over. the game is over. the job is done. sadly, you even hear them more and more when it comes to marriages. it's over. you hear similar words at funerals - well, their life is over - it's over. no wonder we don't like those words - they almost always signal that something we like or love or enjoy has come to an end. it's over - aren't we glad that when God utters those words that those in Christ will just be beginning?

confusion

now that is an interesting word - confusion. i really don't know anyone that likes this word - that likes to live in a state of confusion. the folks i know like nice, orderly lives - even though they don't always live them. i mean, who does? personally, i think confusion gets a bad rap. like when you go into your favorite store and everything has been rearranged. confusion? no! opportunity! this scenario gives you an opportunity to out think the store manager. see, i'm convinced they do that to get you to walk by something you don't need at a time when you don't need it so that you buy it. the opportunity comes amidst confusion to figure out the illogical place that they put the product so you can take the shortest route and not walk past the item you don't need at the time you don't need it so you don't buy it. confused? so am i - but God isn't.

vacation

wow! aren't vacations great? they are times to get away. times to see new things. times to experience new things. like, visiting the wal-mart in ticonderoga, new york. hey, it's a big deal there. where is ticonderoga? about 8 miles south of crown point where we were. where fort ticonderoga is located. seriously, vacations are great. they are times to experience this wonderful land - earth - that God has created. the beauty in up state new york and vermont and canada is breath taking. the people were great. vacations are a time of refreshing. and we were refreshed. and we relaxed. and we learned about a lot of stuff about our history. which makes me think about how good God has been to us. which makes me think about His refreshing. aren't we glad that we are continually refreshed in God?
